I’ll be attending the WorshipGod conference on August 5-8, 2009 at Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, MD. This is the biennial conference from Sovereign Grace Ministries. This year’s theme is “From Generation to Generation” and here’s the first paragraph of their description:

What are we teaching future generations about worshiping God? What kind of legacy will we leave? Will those who follow us be more impressed with our music or our God? Maybe the psalmist had those questions in mind when he wrote, “One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts” (Psalm 145:4 ESV)?

I’ve been invited to give a seminar this year titled “Reviving the Hymns“. Here’s the description of the seminar:

Thousands of hymns have been written and forgotten. Some of them are filled with life-transforming truths that we should still be singing. Which hymns need reviving and where do you find them? How do you decide when to update a hymn’s music or lyrics and when to leave a hymn as it stands? David Ward, who has been writing new tunes for hymns for ten years through ReformedPraise.org, will share how he’s been learning about reviving hymns while still appreciating what previous generations have passed on to us.

If you get a chance to attend the conference please introduce yourself!
